Have you ever been in a job where policies were made by someone who never did the job themselves?   Their hearts may be in the right place but until you have done the job, you really do not know what is going on.

What are the backgrounds of these crane inspectors?  Do they talk to the workers involved in the job to make improvements?  I hope that reporters will interview the people who work with the cranes.

The inspector could have been in an office where the most dangerous event could have been leaving a waste basket in a place where someone else could trip over it.  Taking a course, even with dedication to understand the job, cannot come close to doing the job for years.

It's me again...lol
You ever hear; "it's not what you know but who you know?"
The crane did not pass inspection. It was deemed unsafe on Wednesday before the tragedy. The city inspector was "payed off" to alter inspection paper's in order to allow work to continue. He is now in jail. I'm sure other's will be arrested over this as well.

Hi Eva,

I wish that if Anyone on Any job would think of their own safety first. I wonder why the crane workers opted to work on a crane that they must have known was not safe.

But then, how many drivers not only speed but speed when roads are wet or snow covered.

Guess it is the "it can't happen to me" mode.

In response to your question, I'll answer with a question....Why did all those people that initially started to evacuate the two tower's out of fear return to their office's when told by their bosse's to "go back to work it's ok".??????????????
Had my cousin said to his boss on 9/11; "go F@*^$" yourself, I quit, I'm outta here. He still be alive today and would not have been buried under the rubble of the north tower.
If the construcion manager is telling them to work that everything is ok, then I'm sure they trust what he's saying is true and fear not doing so would put them on the unemployment line. Honestly who would think that the people you work for have no regard for human life and would put you in harm's way for money? It's hard to believe and make sense out of it.

Eva, on 9/11 just after the 1st tower was hit, I was going thru the gate to go into the NJ State House for an award. While we were in there, I asked if the Governor was in the building. I was told that he wasn't. I made a STRONG suggestion that we ALL get our butts out of the building. And we did. What did he know that we were not yet aware of?

No Award, NO money is more important to me than waking up each morning to see what the day will bring! I just enjoy each day, even the not so good ones - well, after I have had the satisfaction of fixing the problem. I plan to be on Earth, hail and hearty, until I am 120 for that is the estimate I have to do all the things I want to do in this life.

Who knows HOW the manager got the job? From working up from the bottom, or from a relative that was pressured from his family to give him a job.

Do you remember the story about the Emperor's
New Clothes? Everyone saw and marveled at his clothes. A little kid said, But he is naked!

I prefer to be the little kid.

I just enjoy being here on Earth - in the good times and even the not so good times. My path is to help people to understand that it is all right for everything not to be all right - and how to take care of things.Angel, the poodle, and Ruby, the cat are great teachers, as you can see from the picture. After all, they both accept humans, just as we are!
