When I took a long trip 2 weeks ago, I had problems with my tires. The web is so wonderful. A little bit of time and I found possible answers. There was a place around here that had "too good" prices for tires. And, when it seems too good to be true, it usually isn't.

Consumer - be wary. Nothing like doing research to save money and you.  Check these out for future reference.

I learned to pray every day, twice a day, before going on I-80 for several years.  Even though I have not traveled it in about a year, I dreaded the thought of being on it Saturday morning but prayer of safety always worked so off I went.

Several miles down the road, I began to think that half the world was washed away from some storm for there was not a lot of traffic on it 10 in the morning.  ONLY 1 SPEEDER, all the way from Exit 34, 80, to 280 Exit 8.  It was not much different coming back.  It also seemed that drivers were more courteous.  I gave thanks and  had a slim idea that this was for real.

Did the same trip this morning, weekday, 9AM.  Plus, came back westbound during the beginning of rush hour.  Not one speeder today.  Again, all drivers seemed to be calm.
I even had a driver flash his lights so that I could pull in front of him to change lanes.

I guess this is a plus created by the price of gas being so high.  It did seem that when drivers travel slower they are not as keyed up, even tempers slowing down with the gas pedal.

It's a race track in front of my home.  I thought about all the signs made to ask drivers to slow down -  School Crossing, Chipmunk Crossing, etc.

In this election year, I wonder what drivers would do if they saw a sign ""Politician Crossing".

Or in New Jersey, "Governor Crossing".

We all know that the faster you drive, the more gas the car uses.  That is a fact.

A man complained to me about how much it costs to fill up his big SUV.  Just for kicks and giggles, I asked him how much time it takes for him to travel to his job near the city and how many miles it is.  I calculated that he has to speed. Plus, he is worried about the last speeding ticket he received.

I was on interstate roadways  NJ yesterday.  It is very apparent that most were still going the top speeds they were pre the increase in gas prices. If you travel the speed limit you get dirty looks from other drivers for holding them up.

Amazing - I guess there are a lot more people with big bucks in NJ and do not have to care what it costs to travel.  If they were worried about the price of gas, logically, they would slow down to conserve.

Instead of National Security, I have Natural Flight Security -  taking out pain and replacing it with pane. Note some fliers are cautious, some are not.

This flight fuel is natural, non-toxic, creates music and color, and its by-product enriches the soil.

When I rescued Bill, I had the bright idea to name him after Bill Burke who was a tall, gentle and quiet man.  We have the tall and gentle working  - quiet  - needs a lot of work.
Bill doesn't do winter  outside flights  - keeps staying by the Mexican Sun to give me a hint.

I have always felt more comfortable opening a car window when going on a bridge over water. Now, I also unlock my seat belt until over the bridge.  I timed how long I can hold my breath - and this is at a time when I am not stressed about wondering whether I would live or die,  to find that breaking the window and undoing the seatbelt would take too much time.

I was in a car yesterday with children and thinking about the same thing and how long it takes to get a child unfastened from her seatbelt which had 2 locks to undo after having to climb over the front seat to the back seat to get to the child.    There is no way that I could hold my breath that long. The child's safety would take priority over mine but if I didn't live I couldn't save the child.

I am thankful that I never forget to say a prayer for safety and awareness  every morning.  I am also happy that I no longer have to travel on bridges, congested roadways, or in inclement weather.  Life is good!

Why are we allowing government to tell us what to do or not to do?  We have brains.  We can do something collectively for ourselves.  I am sure most of us are responsible people.

I cannot imagine what NYC would be without all the noise.  But, everything in time or too much of it does get tiresome.

Just for an example, we could all make Sundays a "No Honk Day",   for a start just by not honking the horn ourselves.

I just checked out to see if the horn in my car works - never used it .  Good thing I checked it out if I  will ever need it in the future.

I drove a car belonging to another person.  No passenger side mirror and the driver's side mirror was broken.  She said not to worry for you have the rear mirror and she didn't use the other ones anyway!

That was the most uncomfortable car to be in, much less drive.  Especially at a stop light.

I wonder how many people do look to see what is coming at them from the rear.

I stopped at Dunkin Donuts for coffee beans.   There was an argument going on.  A man on a farm tractor (no signal lights) was waving his left arm in circles.  The car behind him thought it was a motion to pass him.  The hay wagon moved to the left as the car was passing him, the car moved, nearly doing a head-on.  That man (NY tags) stopped the passing car to yell at him that a arm circling means you are turning left.  Has the hand rules changed?

Bet it would be some experience to drive a farm tractor and hay wagon through NYC.

I just had the experience of being a passenger in 4 cars this last week.   The first driver doesn't count - she doesn't drive a car but aims it.  Thankfully, she just looks straight ahead for if she turns her head while the car is moving, her hands move with it.  Someone is looking out for her for she has never had an accident, goes the exact speed limit, knowing her own limitations and has concern for other drivers - plus, doesn't drive far.

The others were quite fascinating.  I watched to see how far ahead they look when they are driving - just in front of the car.  When we were on roads, I look quite far away (cop taught me that) - especially on Interstate roads.  I found that I have avoided many car/deer accidents by doing so.

When you look ahead as far as possible, not only you see what is right in front of you, but what to avoid up ahead.

I have missed many a pothole by seeing cars way ahead either swerving to miss them or bouncing as they cross them.

Just a thought.

I find it amazing that there are so many traffic accidents. Now that we are in the fall season, we see thousands, maybe millions of birds migrating in flocks. In all my years I have never see 2 of them crash into each other. They have bird brains. What are we doing wrong? I believe I read that the faster and stronger ones are in front and the slower ones in the back.

I have found that on I-80 it is better to travel in the slow lane. Most of the cars going fast and slow seem to be in the passing lane.

I just enjoy being here on Earth - in the good times and even the not so good times. My path is to help people to understand that it is all right for everything not to be all right - and how to take care of things.Angel, the poodle, and Ruby, the cat are great teachers, as you can see from the picture. After all, they both accept humans, just as we are!
