My first trip to Yankee Stadium was on July 4, 1983. I went with my Grandpa and my brother. That was the day Dave Righetti threw his no hitter against the Red Sox. An incredible day...one of those days you will never forget as long as you live.
Other great memories are from the Subway World Series. My first year working in New York I get to cover one of the biggest baseball event in New York City. I still say if Timo Perez doesn't loaf it in Game One the Mets not only win that first game they make it a much more completive series. Game 2 of that series was also unforgettable. Clemens throwing the bat at or near Mike Piazza
I was also there for some of the 1996 playoff games as a fan. Watched games one, two and the clinching game 6 of that 1996 World Series from way-way up in the upper deck out in left field.
Was there when Derek Jeter made that great-great catch against the Red Sox , the one where he dives into the stands. Same time he was doing that, Nomar was on the bench, some say refusing to play. To me that one play separates Jeter from the rest---everything he does he does 100 percent on the baseball field. Have you ever watched him not run out a ground ball? Give up and at bat? The answer is no!
