There are several unanswered questions related to my story about a United Nations security guard who somehow got her job even after living in the U.S. illegally for many years.

1. How did the woman, who is now using the official name of "Camille Noray" get a driver's license in 2002 using the name "Melinda Noray"? Post 9/11, there is supposed to be a thorough check of people's documents before they are issued a license. According to the DMV, she had all the appropriate documents to receive a license under the name Melinda Noray.

2. How could she have pulled off landing this job with the U.N. without inside help from the U.N.? It would seem difficult for a woman who had spent several years as a diner waitress to somehow qualify for a position as a U.N. security officer after just a brief return to Trinidad.

3. How many other people are in the city right now under this special "G-4" status that have not been thoroughly checked out? The State Department only denies G-4 status in certain situations involving terrorism and potential danger. There are supposedly systems in place to make sure that no dangerous people are allowed in under G-4 status but since people are not fingerprinted, it would seem to be a way to wash away all kinds of bad history including criminal history.

Maybe the three names she used could be explained away as variations of her first and middle names (Melinda and Camille) and her real last name (Noray) and her husband's last name (McKenzie) but it still doesn't explain how she got by the U.N. screening process to get the security job.

It would seem that either:

a) the U.N. didn't care about her illegal immigration status (highly unlikely or she would not have been suspended as the result of our investigation);

or

b) someone was not honest in the screening process;

or

c) the screening process did not include certain basic tools that would have raised a red flag.

At the very least, the process should have determined that she had a driver's license issued under another name. A simple check of databases available to most investigators would reveal that Melinda Noray and Camille Noray appear to be the same person who lived in Brooklyn for many years.

Does she have a criminal record? What was the purpose of attacking her at her home if your report was mainly about lack of security in UN hiring. Now, probably she won't have a job and lose her home and get sent back to a country where she might have nothing. With the thousands of illegals that I see everyday hanging out at bars and forming gangs. Why don't you take your camera and stick it in their face?

Mr. Deutzman, you are exactly what is wrong with the American media. Look at your three points. Should you be attacking this woman, or the United Nations and DMV? Instead of getting the real answers, you go for the easy kill by hounding a woman who is really doing nothing more than following the American dream by making a living for herself and her family.

Be a real reporter, not a television "shock jock". If you can't give us real reporting I suggest you find a new job with People magazine or another tabloid.

Ms. Noray usage of her maiden name, husband's last name and probably her middle name & maiden name is now a problem in America, shouldn’t you be going after as well as abrasive interviewing the American-born Catholic who decide to use their Canonized name in place of their first or middle name without visiting or paying America legal system. Will you label these individual criminal, unethical or fraudulent? John, currently you had an individual that is a class G-4 that is working satisfactory in US, until you made it seem that she was a terrorist.

Hi Everyone,

Please read the above blog it will answer all of your questions. The UN has suspended her so I'm guessing something she did was wrong.
In order for this whole scenario to be pulled off somebody had to lie.

It's a sad day in news reporting when stories like these are what air. John, I don't know where your family came from but I am 100% sure that they are not natives of this land. Wether you choose to believe it or not your forefathers did not start this country in a legal manner. I doubt this woman killed anyone, yet you choose to treat her like a terrorist. You've aggressively stalked her, more than likely she will be deported/separated from her family, and you "pat your back" with the notion of good reporting. I will never watch your news show, and I wonder how people like you sleep at night.

I've rarely been more disgusted watching a newscast. Between the US presidential race, the war in Iraq, the devastating cyclone in Myanmar, the Mexican mayor accused of smuggling cocaine being returned to New York to stand trial, local economic news, and oil prices hitting a record high of $122 a barrel, this person's situation has no business being on the nightly news! Yes, she overstayed her Visa, but I would likely do the same if I were in her situation and not fortunate enough to be born in America. Immigration is a serious issue that deserves serious reporting and analysis, not "gotcha" journalism aimed at some of the most defenseless people in our society.

Soulfulchic,

I sleep well at night knowing that I know the difference between right and wrong. It is illegal to overstay your visa pure and simple. People who illegally overstay their visas and are caught can be deported and banished from the US for at least 10 years.
You are welcome to run a criminal history on me and my family but you won't find anything except speeding tickets. My parents taught me not to lie, not to cheat and not to steal. My driver's license always has my real name on it (what a unique idea !) I have always paid my taxes, and all my bills. I've been rich I've been broke and somehow through it all I maintained integrity and didn't suck one dime off the government.
So when you start spouting off how someone who broke the law is somehow a victim of mine you are barking up the wrong tree.
Unfortunately for Ms. Noray there was deception used in gaining her G-4 status.but I do enjoy the organized attack by her friends and family. I would also expect those who may have helped her and others like her to gain G-4 status to be a bit nervous about our report.

Pandruko,

The major issue here is that something went wrong in the UN screening process to allow Noray to get the job. In order for that to happen she would have either had to lie or coached to lie about her past.
This leaves the door wide open to all kinds of abuses. If she could "wash" he past with this process who else can slide through the cracks?
Remember the G-4 process doesn't fingerprint. And the last time I checked Trinidad is not an opressed country with people desperately fleeing a tyranical government.

What are you beefing about...this is a sanctuary city....Illegals can come and go as they please. They have the right to Medical, Housing and to your share of Social Security payments. They also have a right to work anywhere they want. I know this to be true, because the liberal establishment says it is SO.

Htbone,

Thanks fot the comment. This story is more about dishonesty and concern about UN procedures than illegal immigration but you make some interesting points.
The honest working person in this country pays a huge amount of money for taxes and medical insurance yet they never seem to be allowed to have a voice when it comes to asking questions about where their money goes.

I think John is missing the point. I was also put off when I saw this story air last night. This woman's only crime was overstaying her visa? America is made up of immigrants, especially New York. How you thought New Yorkers would agree with your position is beyond me. This story would go down well in a "red state," but not here. We believe in the American dream and we believe that anyone can have it. I'm pleased to see all the posts on here but I wish they were more so Fox could get the message. I see from your post that you see nothing wrong with your story, so I can only hope that your superiors will review this blog and edit you in the future. You've already destroyed one family. She was only suspended because you put this in the spotlight and they were forced to react. She will lose her job and visa. The same will happen to her husband. Just horrible. I'm truly disgusted.

I am so happy to see the responses on this page. John what you did is dispicable. My name is John too and I am ashamed simply being a John in New York like you! And mind you, I am not her family-- I am American, with Irish and German ancestors, and a dentist in the city!!! Now I hope you find real work to do, like report on issues that actually matter. Did you check her criminal history? Has she ever killed someone? She is trying to make money the honest way rather than sell drugs or prostitute herself to be able to take care of her family and you go attacking her, not only on her way to work but at her home!!! And how did you even get the tip that she has done anything wrong? What laws did you break in the process of getting that information because I am sure there are some privacy laws protecting her and her "driver's liscence." And you didnt answer the question about your own family -- are they ALL native americans, your forefathers and all? I doubt not! And hey just so you know, there are many countries who are not necessarily at war or anything like that but are still stricken with poverty. Look at Africa and you will find more than 30! and it is all thanks to COLONIALSM. I thought this was the era to correct the mistakes or colonialization, or at least attempt to correct these mistakes, not attack those same innocent people trying to find a better life for themselves!!!

As always, I am with you on your efforts to make things right. If we have to play by the book, why should outsiders think they can outsmart our system with their own rule book?

Comparing her to criminals does not make it right if she did something wrong. I don't get why people still use that tactic to make someone appear innocent.....it doesn't change any facts.

John - thank you for bringing to light yet another flaw in our security and or ID system. It is a little big brotherish but worth the effort if we have picture ID that includes our fingerprint. This should be enforced. An ID is an important piece of documentation and should be validated from time to time. People go all over and do all sorts of different things, sometimes in security issue places. I believe we should have a better ID system. Besides, if you have not done anything wrong what is the issue?????

To JohntheDentist - How is this woman making money the "honest way" when she is using more than one name. This is exactly what is wrong with the system today. There are thousands in this country legally and illegally who use more than one name - I am not referring to a nick name or using a different first name - I am referring to individuals who use different names for different jobs, gaining welfare, etc. and we - the people - are paying for them to have every comfort whether or not they deserve them. I am sorry she was suspended, but if she gained employment - AND OF ALL PLACES IN THE UN - by using a different name how in God's good name can you say she is working legally. Remind me to be weary of dentists with the name John! Remember, you really do not know if she is using her other names in different places. It is not only a security issue but a moral one.

qguy22 - you sould go back to school and not only learn some manners, but how to write and get a real message accross. I can only imagine how many names you actually use to get buy in this world. Not everything on the news or in the news should be blood, guts and sex. These issues - though minor to you - are important threads in the identity issues and security issues. You are entitled to your opinion this is the United States afterall. It would be wrong if this woman used a different name to get a job as a waitress, but not as wrong because it is not the UN. She is still wrong to use more than one ID - wrong is wrong - she could be trying to get away with paying taxes or whatever - so we yet again should all pay for the sins of others. Maybe you would like to pay my share as well as your own????
