Forget about running for mayor. I bet if Bloomberg ran for president right now… with a few weeks to go, he would win.

The country is split on Obama and McCain. Bloomberg could slide in their and give everyone a choice they would feel more comfortable with given the financial crisis.

I’m dead serious about this… I’m not being my usual sarcastic self.

I have never seen a presidential election where almost everyone I know is uneasy with their decision, voting either way.
All of this media-circus mud-slinging made voting for McCain or Obama an uncertain thing for everyone I know!
Even when I ask my family who they are voting for, they have a pseudo-terrified and confused look on their face.
I think you may be on to something here John...
How do we get him on the ballot?

Quite the little marketing queen Palin; making sure all the soccer moms and hockey moms were clicking with her. Will charm work in dealing with foreign affairs? That's one we have never tried.

Biden was very matter of fact, cut and very dry, prepared to try for a incidental TKO in round 2, but Palin was smart to decide to go back and elaborate on a previous question to run the clock on the current question......I give her points for that.
They both did fairly well though.

He has no chance. Get real. This was bandied about a few months ago. That time was his best chance and moreover, he could've been Obama's VP.

I'm not endosing anybody I'm just saying that the winds have changed and everybody is disgusted and outraged with Washington and professional politicians.

I think people would have more of a comfort level with him under control during this financial crisis. Right now everyone including the two candidates are taking a "Nero Fiddles While Rome Burns" approach.

Considering Mayor Bloomberg's close ties with the financial industry, I find it compelling that he was not and is not out in the forefront talking about the economic crisis. He had to have an opinion on sub-prime mortgages, but I cannot recall him ever coming out and harshly criticizing the Federal Reserve, mortgage bankers, real estate agents or the big mortgage tax credit that home buyers get. All those factors contributed to the crisis we are in now, along with the ability of investment bankers to leverage mortgages a dozen ways to Sunday. My firm works for all the parties involved, so I can't mention certain details, but I can say that I am disgusted with what some of these organizations were and are able to get away with . Where was Bloomberg when all this was going down? If I thought that he was out there actively fighting against the policies that got us here, I would support him 100%. Maybe he was and maybe I'm wrong, but I see no evidence of it. If he wants to run for President, he should first divest himself of the powers he has been given over our city. The very fact that he wants to overturn term limits, something that I and many other New Yorkers voted for, makes me very suspicious of his motives. His success as mayor is dubious and debatable given the many negative events that have transpired under his watch. I vote him back to the private sector. I wish him the best, especially for the next 400 days or so that he is Mayor, but I firmly support a transition of power at the end of his term.

I wanted to add that I do think Mayor Bloomberg has done a good job with the school system and the park system. He has my thanks for that, but I still do not want him around for a third term and I remain undecided about him in the Whitehouse.

lisa,

Thanks for the endorsment. Here's my platform:

Everybody will be given a rope and a goat because if the stock market continues on this path we will be a third world country by Christmas.

But hey at least Iraq is going well.

Mmmm...goat milk and goat cheese...yummy. Ha! An added benefit to having a goat is that we would save on paper shredders as goats will eat all paper they can reach!

Your new slogan:

"Give me your vote and you get a goat!"

and

"When you've lost hope, I'll throw you a rope!"

Keep doing a great job!

If Bloomberg becomes president I d run for the hills. He has already screwed up the NYC schools. Teachers are taking their own children out of the schools due to the fact that teachers are not ever allowed in most schools to use their abilities to make learning fun or interesting! Test scores have gone up only due to the fact that test prep begins on the first day of school, Saturdays and after school as well. And the tests are very watered down to make Bloomberg look good. The teachers are forced to teach a program that very very few educators believe works, and they are not allowed for one second to teach to meet the needs of their classes!Text books have been thrown away and so have various other materials that educators need in order to meet the specific needs of individual children. There is no grammar, phonics or actual reading and writing skills being taught because the teachers are very afraid to deviate from a curriculum which provides no space at all for flexibility or creativeness.Teachers went to college and have a masters degree which taught them how to be creative and how to teach in such a way that the children enjoy learning and crave to learn more, but they are not allowed to use their skills to educate the children.
