It's fairly typical around here to have winter hold on for a lot longer than it should climatologically. It's very typical to have winter hold on for a lot longer than we would like it to. And then, once it loses its grip, BAM!!! 90 degree temperatures and heat waves hit the area out of nowhere prompting everyone to say, "what ever happened to spring? It just went from winter to summer!"

Well consider yourself lucky if you're a spring-lover. This week will be filled with weather typical of spring, especially in the temperature department. We'll also see plenty of spring sun along with a few spring showers. The following is the five day forecast with plenty of attention to detail.

Monday:  We're waking up to a few passing showers this morning. The key word here is "passing" as a fast moving frontal system is responsible for the showers. In its wake, we'll enjoy increasing sunshine and warm temperatures with a nice, dry northwesterly wind. The wind could get strong this afternoon with gusts exceeding 30MPH. The wind will do little to stop temperatures from rising as the strong April sun goes to work. We'll see high temperatures reach the mid 70's this afternoon , which is ten degrees above normal.

Tuesday:  We'll start the day off with a mix of sun and clouds early. The sun will steadily fade out during the late morning and early afternoon as another fast-moving system heads our way out of the Great Lakes. Under the increasing cloud cover, temperatures will be held in the low to mid 60's. Showers will develop during the afternoon and become more numerous as we head into the evening and overnight. The rain could get briefly heavy Tuesday night, but will be short-lived as the storm system moves quickly to our south and east.

Wednesday:  A few showers or sprinkles may linger into Wednesday morning as the storm system quickly heads out to sea south and east of our area. High pressure will then build in for the afternoon and dry us out. The clouds will begin to break for sun by late morning and we'll see plenty of sun during the afternoon. A nice northwesterly breeze will bring plenty of dry air out of Canada and keep temperatures at a seasonable level. Morning temperatures will be in the upper 40's followed by afternoon highs in the mid to upper 60's.

Thursday:  Thursday will be a beauty with plenty of sunshine and seasonable spring temperatures. A nice, crisp morning with temperatures in the upper 40's will be followed by a bright and mild afternoon with high temperatures in the mid to upper 60's. A light northerly breeze will continue to bring dry air into the region.

Friday:   The spring weather will continue right into Friday. A weak cold front will knock temperatures down just slightly, but do little in terms of weather. Sunshine will still dominate the sky with morning temperatures in the mid 40's followed by a mild afternoon in the mid 60's. Again, right where we should be this time of year.

SDS- only a few showers late today, tonight, and EARLY tomorrow. Then its wall to wall sunshine Wednesday afternoon right into the weekend. The sunny weather may even continue into the middle of next week. A STRONG high pressure will take up residence over the northeastern U.S.

And to add to the sunshine will be the comfortable temperatures. The air will be clear and very dry. The dry air will allow us to cool off nicely at night. It will also allow us to warm up to comfortably mild levels during the afternoon.

I mean, we set our thermostats generally between 68 and 72 degrees. High temperatures will be very close to room temperatures. I can't get any better than that, at least in my opinion.

Yeah, it was a bit windy yesterday...but sooo nice. I sat on my mothers swing (in her backyard) and fell asleep! Reminded me of those long naps I used to take on my Grandmothers hammock in Puerto Rico.

Long time no talk Carmen!! I hope you didn't start running when those thunderstorms hit last night!! What a light show. And yes, we're going to see sunny skies right through the weekend. We'll also see comfortable temps with cool nights and mild days. Enjoy!!

BM and LFF- We're going to have a refreshing northerly breeze right through the weekend. Don't worry, it won't be nearly as strong as Monday's breeze. This breeze will be in the 10 to occasionally 15 MPH range. It will bring in delightful, dry air out of southern Canada. Perfect for outdoor afternoon naps.

It took a while, but it finally cleared out around 2PM yesterday. Now the sun is here to stay. Sunny right through Monday.

We'll warm up and make a run for 80 early next week, Monday and Tuesday.

And the only change to the forecast is to bump the temps up slightly. The weak cold frontw will still cross the area from time to time, but they're not really going to lower the temps much. We'll probabaly be near 70 or in the low 70's right through the weekend.

It's all coming together for the weekend. Friday will be the nicest of the three days with sunny skies, mild temps, and light winds. We'll reach the low 70's without a cloud in the sky.

Saturday will be mild again as we reach the low 70's. But boo hoo, poor us, there will actually be a few clouds in the sky. Just high, thin clouds that won't do much to block the sun. During the evening and overnight, the clouds may thicken up just a bit as a backdoor cold front crosses the area. An isolated sprinkle or two may even be possible at night.

Then Sunday, we'll see breezy conditions with a northeast wind keeping us quite a bit cooler. We'll struggle to reach the low to mid 60's with mostly sunny skies. Coastal areas may not get out of the 50's!!
