I served my country during the VietNam war. I enlisted right out of High School. I did not see action during my four years of service but played a support role. I wish I could have been with the proud men and women who gave their lives for their country. Take it a step further, go back to WWI to this day. War is hell, anyone who lost their life in battle died in a horrific way. Who is Cindy Sheehan talking to when she criticizes the USA? Why is she hugging Chavez. This woman is insane. She lost an American hero, her son. Many families lost their sons and daughters, but they are proud not revengeful. She is hurting America for political reasons. The Democrats have a golden hen in their coop and they use her to the nines. If we pull together as Americans we can back our fighting men and women and win this battle of insurgents. That's all they are. They are not a country, they are rag tag misguided people who need to be silenced for good. God bless our American heroes. I'm sure you have seen all the e-mails being forwarded of our troops and their living conditions. Take a minute and think of what they are truly going through and then think of Ms. Cindy hugging Chavez. God Bless America and our fighting men and women. AMEN!!

I find it hard to disagree with anything that you say here. While I support Cindy Sheehan's right to free speech, I do not agree with the content of her speech. That's alright though; I swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States and that promise did not end when I finished my military service. I feel sorry for Ms. Sheehan because she lost her son and I would be devastated if I lost mine, but I will not be buying her book. Instead of reading her book, I prefer to reread the writings of one of our greatest and most controversial presidents, Abraham Lincoln. He spoke often of compassion and no more so than in his March 4 1865 inaugural address: “With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation's wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan…”
It is my hope that all of us now, in 2006, can contemplate such compassion and act accordingly. It is in our daily lives, in our smallest gestures, smiles and acts of generosity that the true nature of America resides. It is within all of us to leave the world a little better than when we found it. Let us not forget those who have given their hopes, their dreams and their very lives to afford us all the opportunity of each new day as free Americans.

THANK YOU JOHNNY M AND TO ALL THE MILITARY OUT THERE THAT FOUGHT FOR THIS GREAT COUNTRY AND THANKS FOR FIGHTING SO I MAY LIVE AND ALL AMERICANS MAY LIVE A SAFE AND FREE LIFE IN AMERICA. GOD IS GREAT! GOD BLESS AMERICA! GOOD BLESS THE MILITARY! BE SAFE OUT THERE GUYS!
