Hello Everyone!  How are ya?  Hopefully you had a nice weekend... we had a little bit of everything didn't we??  Well now the weekend is over and it's time to get back to business here.  And every day seems to feel more and more like fall is really sinking in.  In fact, we have quite a few frost advisories and freeze warnings going up tonight for much of the northern sections of the tri-state.  I guess we are going to break our hats, scarves, gloves et. al. sooner rather than later.

And just as a side note... I did get a haircut on Friday which is definitely a little short this go 'round.  I guess a lot of people are taking notice of it too... menitoning it on our live blog.  Well I can tell you this, I won't be going for the super short haircut much longer.  I've gotta keep that nugget nice and toasty and me off the sick list!

Cheers everybody!!

Alright wrestling fans, are you ready for the WWE to return to My 9?!?!  Well that's what we're going to be all pumped up about tomorrow morning as we celebrate the launch... or should I say re-launch of WWE on My 9 (our beloved sister station).  Well on Friday, October 3rd Anne Craig and I will be broadcasting live from 1211 6th Avenue next to the News Corp building with a huge block party celebrating WWE's move to My 9 starting that Friday evening.  Thousands of people are expected!  So if you want to check me out, I'll be there throughout our morning show on Friday.  But I do have to warn you, be ready to bundle up a bit.

Fall temperatures are taking over throughout the northeast and tri-state over the next few days.  And I'm expecting a little bit of a chill in the air for the next several mornings as the fall season sets in.  So if you are going to come out to see us, make sure you're ready to deal with the cooler temps.

Other than that, we've got a pretty quiet stretch of cool/dry weather coming our way.  But hey!  At least that means a nice weekend coming our way!

See ya when I see ya...

Hello everyone!  I'm back and at 'em, ready for what will be our next storm here in the tri-state.  I've gotta say, the weather was nice in Cali, but I actually like the rain.  So I guess I missed out on a pretty soggy weekend, but I'll take the rain we have coming in tonight and through tomorrow as a "make up" from Mamma nature.  Yes, we are expecting some showers to kick in by later tonight and we'll get showers and storms through Wednesday.  Then things dry up and cool down from Thursday on along with a nice little drop in temperatures.

OK Y'all!  Thanks for the continued love here.  Good to be back!  And welcome to all our newest good day bloggers, like Karen... enjoy our crazyness!!

Peace!

Hello Everyone!  Happy Humpday!!  Hope everyone has been loving all this fantastic sunshine and the cool temperatures that goes along with them.  I'd say this has been a pretty nice way to head into Fall.  But it has been a little while since we've seen significant rain in the tri-state region... September 12th was our last measureable rainfall.  But that is going to be changing!

We have rain scheduled to revisit the tri-state region starting later tomorrow.  What's happening is an area of low-pressure is developing off the southeast coast that will gradually trek up the eastern seaboard.  That spells wind and rain for us as a nor'easter cranks through our area.   We'll take the rain, but the timing isn't the greatest since it will be affecting the end of the workweek as well as the weekend.

OK, Y'all... Have a great day.  And just so ya know, I'm going to be off till Tuesday next week visiting family out west.  I WILL BE BACK!!  No sweat....

Cheers!

Good morning Everyone!!  How are you?  Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend... the last weekend of Summer 2008.  I know I did, at Reid and his awesome bride Nelly's wedding with a bunch of the Fox 5 crew down in Miami.   And if you are interested, there are some pictures from the wedding posted on my newsroom page under the Mike's World album.  Check 'em out!!

And today is the first day of fall!  I love this time of the year... Who doesn't love this time of the year??  And so far it looks like we'll be off to a fantatic fall with cool comfortable temperatures.  Enjoy it my friends.

And for those of you who hadn't noticed, Rosanna Scotto has joined our morning show team and we welcome her with open arms.   I really do love that she has joined the team... of course we'll miss Jodi, but who better to step up to the plate than the lovely Rosanna!!??

OK everyone, y'all have a great day and enjoy Fall!

And once again... WELCOME ROSANNA!!!    :)

What's up Y'all!!??  We're just chillin' out here in the Fox 5 studios, loving this cool fall-like weather.  Of course fall doesn't officially kick in for about another week, but I'm liking this little preview of cooler weather.  I don't know about you, but Sunday's heat was a bit too much for this kid.  I was sweating it big time all day and my poor body was freaked out.  I guess that's what happens when you get spoiled with mild weather through most of the summer months.

In any event, things look great for us for this entire week with mild, dry weather.   It's definitely time to start thinking about breaking out that fall wardrobe my friends.  I wonder who will be the first one to launch the complaint.... "It's too cold!!"   I can hear it now!!

Make it a great day!!

Hey everyone. Well of course yesterday being the 7th anniversary for 9/11, most everyone was reflecting on what they were doing and their overall reactions to the whole event. As usual, it was a solemn, sober day of remembrance for most, myself included. But my final visual image was that of The Tribute in Light which I took a few shots of from my roof-deck last night. Then as I turned in the exact opposite direction I saw the Empire State Building all lit up in red, white and blue. The pictures I posted on my blog pretty much tell the story.

Take care everyone...

So we had a tropical storm roll through town over the weekend and was it ever a mess!!??  Well, for those of you who didn't know, my first job in television was in Eastern North Carolina.  And that is where I had my first experiences with tropical storms and hurricanes.  But one of the first things I learned that people do in that area when these big storms come to town is throw a hurricane party!!  So guess what I did this weekend!  That's right, let's have a hurricane party at Mike's place!

So when the rain began, so did the party which rolled on through the evening.  We broke out the nintendo Wii and had a good ol' time!  So next time a  big storm comes to town, you know what to do!  C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-E!!!!  In fact, I have posted a party picture in my photo album of some of the gang who made the occasion.

So how did you all spend that rainy Saturday?  Any interesting stories??   Do tell!!

Hello Everyone!  Hope you all had a fantastic Labor Day weekend my friends.  I had a great one, but man am I tired!!??  So I had friends in town from CA most of last week and the weekend and that kept a brotha busy!!  I gave them a pretty full itenerary and let them loose on NYC.  But now my behind is a little worn out!!  Whew...  Now back to it!

So I went back to work yesterday morning and Hurricane Gustav was about to make landfall in Louisianna.   Argghhhh...  Thankfully Gustav wasn't as potent as Katrina was 3 years ago, but it still packed a decent punch.  Now that Gustav is weakening, we are focusing in on what's next and that's Hanna which is once again a tropical storm.  Hanna is forecast to restrengthen to hurricane status in the next few days and then continue towards the south carolina coast.  The storm will weaken as it continues to head north, but  it will carry plenty of moisture with it.  We could see a good 2-3" of rain Friday night into Saturday.

Havea  a great one everybody!  Let's all get back to work and to school in fine fashion!

Later!!

Whassup Y'all!!??  Everybody behavin?  Hope not...

Well it's been a nice stretch of quiet weather here in the tri-state and I for one have really appreciated it.  But I've got to say, after a while I do tend to get a little bored.  So guess what!  We've got some action coming our way once again... just for my entertainment!

The remnants of Fay are just to our west, but that strong canadian high is holding most of that moisture to the west of us.  Therefore the rain is going to hold off for a couple more days.  But by Saturday we'll have a cold front sweep the area  which should bring us a few showers.  But by Sunday we are back to sunshine and warm temperatures with highs in the low to mid 80s.  So look forward to a fantastic Sunday and Labor Day... You've gotta love that??

Anything exciting going on this weekend?  I've got friends in town so I may try to take them by that Brazilian Day event on 46th St. on Sunday.  It sounds like a good time to me!!

Check Y'all!!

Hello everyone!  How's things going for you all?  We had a fantatstic weekend with plenty of sun and comfortable temperatures.  Well that's all about to change today.  In fact, the changes are already happening as we are waking up to cloudier skies this morning.  There is a cold front approaching the area, but this cold front... similar to the last one that passed through last week, doesn't have much moisture to work with therefore we won't get much out of this bad boy when it comes to rain.

Now for the majority of the week, we have fantastic weather again.  Starting Tuesday sunshine will be back along with comfortable cool temperatures.  Highs will be dropping into the mid to upper 70s for the rest of the week with no chance for real rain till late Thursday into Friday as the remnants of Fay head this way.

So get out and enjoy the last of this fine weather this weekend... Even though the offcial end of summer isn't here for a while.   Many of the younger ones will be heading back to school next week so there ya have it.  Then again, there's the rest of us grown ups who don't really know what a summer off is.  Getting old isn't all that fun now that I think about it.  Oh well... At least I can drive!!  :)

Hasta!

Howdy everyone!  How are you all today?  It's absolutely fantastic outside so I hope you get a chance to take in some of this fine, fall-like air this morning.  Cool air from Canada has moved in over the region and dropped our temps into the below normal range.  And guess what!!  It looks like the rest of the week is going to be on the coolish/dry side.  Rain isn't in the forecast until sometime late Sunday.  And the chances for rain on Sunday is actually fairly slim so let's not sweat that at this point in time...

So here's the next question...  Who is going to join me for the Harlem Health Walk-A-Thon in Morningside Park this weekend?  Any takers?  If nothing else, it would be great to see some of you all out there.  If not, I'll be out in the field again soon enough.  For those of you who miss me being outdoors... I've been locked up in the studio and will be for the next week and a half.   We are training on our fancy new HD weather graphics which should be implemented sometime near the end of September.

Hope everyone is well.

Cheers!

On Sunday, there will be another trough swinging through which will trigger more storms throughout  the area.  Highs will reach the low 80 with winds kicking in from the south at 10-15mph.

On Monday more storms roll through the tri-state with that same trough hanging over the area. The good news is, the trough will break down and move out of the area after Monday which will make way for sunshine and warm temperatures.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be fantastic with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the low to mid 80s and no rain!  By Thursday we'll bring in another front which will bring more showers and storms... but after two days off, we can't complain.

Hey there everyone!  I don't know about you, but I am so ready for this weekend, you don't even know!  I love my job, but I love to sleep in even more!  And it looks like the weather is going to be fairly decent for us.

We've got an upper level low hanging around the northeast which is keeping us a  little unsettled.  There will be a risk of showers and storms as waves of low pressure circle around the main low and through the tri-state region.  This afternoon, there is about a 40-50% chance that you'll get some rain action, especially later today and then again on Sunday afternoon.  But we will all enjoy a cooler drier day altogether with less humidity and that is a wonderful thing.

OK everyone, hope you all have a great day and make the best of the weekend.  I know I will!!

Peace...

Hey Everyone!  Here's a news flash that should have been put out there a little closer to the time it happened.  Many of you may remember Surfer Boy, who was my esteemed weather producer here on Good Day New York.  Well after 7+ years service here at Fox 5, he has moved on to become an on-air meteorologist with WRNN in Westchester.  He made a quick exit and is already on the air there weekday evening from 4-7pm, but you'll have to check to see if your local cable carrier has the station and where.  I know in Manhattan it's channel 91 for Time Warner.  Anyhow, join me in congratulating him on his new gig though we'll miss him much here at Fox 5.  Perhaps you'll see him here again someday.

And for those of you who are paying close attention, we have a candidate we are working with to hopefully bring in full-time as John's replacement.  Everyone please welcome Addison Green, he's training with us now and you may spot him lurking behind Ines from time to time... working hard to get that forecast and the graphics right!

Speaking of!!  Today should be another hot and sticky one so go sweat with the best!  Tomorrow should be better though... Hallelujah!!

Cheers!
