Another clear and frosty night is ahead for the suburbs with chilly
temperatures for the entire area as high pressure settles down overhead the
tri-state area. The low temperature for Midtown will be 47 degrees and 32-42
degrees across the colder suburbs.
Sunshine returns on Wednesday although some clouds will begin to arrive from
the west during the afternoon ahead of the next weather system moving in our
direction. Temperatures will warm up a bit with a developing southwesterly
airflow. High temperatures should make it to around 70 degrees for most places
except remaining in the 60s along the coast. Lots of clouds arrive for
Wednesday night with the risk of some showers after midnight as the low
temperature heads down to 56 degrees in Midtown and 47-54 across the suburbs.
The next weather system bringing the showers Wednesday night is not very
strong and will actually break down across the area on Thursday. Thus while we
may have a fair amount of clouds Thursday morning with the risk of a few showers,
the sky should return to a combination of sun and clouds and high temperatures
will warm into the low and mid 70s.
Our end of the week and weekend forecast has improved now that high pressure
will build across the area for that time period. Expect sunshine each day from
Friday through Sunday with comfortable conditions as high temperatures rise
into the low and mid 70s each day.

The sky will become clear tonight and with a light wind from the north,
temperatures will cool down to the chilliest readings we've seen so far this
season. The low temperature for Midtown will be 46 degrees with 33-43 degrees
across the colder suburbs.
Frost is likely to be widespread across the colder
northern and western suburbs thus a Frost Advisory and a Freeze Warning have
been issued for those areas.
High pressure will build down from Canada for Tuesday and Wednesday which
will result in some beautiful fall weather. A sunny sky can be expected each
day with a slow warm up as well. High temperatures on Tuesday will be in the
mid 60s and rise to around 70 on Wednesday. A clear sky Tuesday night will
result in rather cool conditions once again with a low temperature of 49
degrees for Midtown and 35-45 degrees across the colder suburbs.
A weak disturbance in the upper atmosphere will pass across the area on
Thursday. This will lead to a battle of clouds and some sun but temperatures
will remain mild with a south to southwesterly airflow in place. High
temperatures should reach into the low 70s.
Another weather system will approach from the south later on Friday. Any sun
will give way to clouds and showers will threaten later Friday into Friday
night. High temperatures will once again be in the low 70s.
This system appears to want to take most of Saturday to move through so
expect clouds with limited sun on Saturday with the threat of more showers. High
temperatures will cool into the mid and upper 60s.

Another cold front is crossing the tri-state area Friday evening, which
will keep some clouds around for the first part of the night. After
that the sky will clear and we'll be headed for another seasonally cool
night. The low temperature in Midtown will be 49 degrees with 38-48
degrees across the colder suburbs. Some patchy frost may form in the
normally colder valleys well north and west of the city.
High
pressure build in for Saturday which will produce a beautiful fall
day. Look for a sunny sky as high temperatures rise into the mid and
upper 60s. Some clouds will appear Saturday night with a low
temperature of 50 degrees for Midtown and 38-48 degrees across the
suburbs.
A weak disturbance in the upper atmosphere will
cross the area on Sunday leading to a combination of sun and clouds
along with a continuation of seasonally cool weather. High temperatures
will generally be in the mid 60s.
A reinforcing shot of cooler
weather should arrive into Monday which will lead to clouds and limited
sun along with the threat of some showers at that point. High
temperatures will climb into the low and mid 60s.
Tuesday and
Wednesday will feature beautiful weather with sunshine each day and
high temperatures in the low to mid 60s on Tuesday and upper 60s for
Wednesday.

High pressure will be building in for Friday through most of the
weekend which will lead to some great autumn weather. Sun will combine
with clouds on Friday as high temperatures climb back into the mid and
upper 60s. Under a mainly clear sky Friday night, temperatures will
cool down to a low of 50 degrees for Midtown and 38-48 degrees across
the cooler suburbs where some patchy frost may form in the normally
colder valleys well to the north and west of the city.
A sunny
sky will rule for both Saturday and most of Sunday as seasonably cool
weather continues to be in place as well. High temperatures each day
will be in the mid to upper 60s.
A reinforcing shot of cooler
weather should arrive for Sunday night into Monday so expect sun and
some clouds on Monday along with breezy conditions as high temperatures
rise into the low to mid 60s.
Tuesday will feature a good amount of sun with high temperatures once again in the low to mid 60s.

A cold front will cross the overnight later Wednesday and in advance of
it we'll maintain mild temperatures but also have the threat of some
showers and thunderstorms. Some of these storms Wednesday evening may
produce a brief heavy downpour. There will be the threat of showers
through midnight then some clearing should move in as it turns a bit
breezy and we turn cooler. The low temperature in Midtown will be 55
degrees with 45-53 across the suburbs.
Cooler weather will move
in for Thursday. The breezy will be gusty out of the west and look for
a combination of sun and clouds as high temperatures rise into the mid
and upper 60s. A few clouds will remain in the area Thursday night as
the low temperature heads down to 52 degrees in Midtown and 42-50
across the cooler suburbs.
High pressure will be building in for
Friday through most of the weekend which will leaed to some great
weather. Sun will combine with clouds on Friday as high temperatures
climb back into the mid 60s.
A sunny sky will rule for both
Saturday and Sunday as seasonably cool weather continues to be in place
as well. High temperatures each day will be in the mid 60s.

A cold front will approach the area from the west tonight into Wednesday. Clouds
will increase this evening and showers along with a thunderstorm will develop
from west to east later tonight. The low temperature will be 62 degrees for
Midtown and 52-58 across the suburbs.
The cold front will take most of Wednesday to move through the area and
there will be several disturbances moving through the upper atmosphere during
the day. Thus expect clouds with limited sun along with more showers and the
threat of some thunderstorms. It will not rain the entire day but you will need
to keep your umbrella handy.
A southwesterly wind will be in place so expect another day of mild
temperatures with highs reaching into the low 70s. Lots of clouds will remain
for the first half of Wednesday night along with the threat of some showers but
with the wind shifting to the northwest, eventually drier air will be brought
across the area leading to some clearing well after midnight along with cooler
temperatures. The low temperature will drop to 55 degrees for Midtown and 47-54
degrees across the cooler suburbs.
Cooler weather will move in for Thursday. It will be rather breezy Thursday
and look for a combination of sun and clouds for both Thursday and Friday as
high temperatures climb into the mid and upper 60s.
It looks like a great fall weekend is in store for the tri-state area. High
pressure will be building in from the west to provide a sunny sky for both
Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures again in the mid to upper 60s.

Lots of clouds will remain in the area overnight as temperatures head down
to a low of 62 degrees for Midtown and 50s across the cooler suburbs.
We'll have another mild day on Tuesday as clouds battle the sun from time to
time. High temperatures will rise into the low and mid 70s but remain in the
60s along the coast with a southeasterly wind. Eventually a cold front will
approach the area from the west for Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Showers will develop later Tuesday evening and continue overnight along with
the threat of some thunderstorms. The low temperature will once again be 62 degrees
for Midtown and 50s across the suburbs.
This system will take most of Wednesday to move through the area so expect
lots of clouds along with more showers and the threat of some thunderstorms. High
temperatures will be in the upper 60s to the low 70s.
Cooler weather will move in behind the front for Thursday into the weekend. Look
for a combination of sun and clouds for both Thursday and Friday as high
temperatures climb into the mid and upper 60s.
Sunshine will rule on Saturday with high temperatures again in the mid and
upper 60s.

Weather
The heaviest and steadiest rain is now in our past but we will still be
dealing with a plume of tropical moisture coming up the eastern seaboard
through the first half of the weekend. The result will be rather humid
conditions along with periods of rain or drizzle tonight through Saturday.
Given the tropical nature of the moisture there could still be some locally
heavy downpours at times again later tonight and again on Saturday,
particularly to the north and east of New York City. Temperatures will remain
mild as readings hold in the mid 60s for many places overnight and rise into
the low 70s on Saturday.
Flood Watches remain in effect through Sunday morning for northeast New
Jersey, New York City, the lower Hudson Valley, Long Island and Connecticut. The
persistent easterly wind will not be as strong tonight through Saturday but it
will still lead to some high surf and beach erosion.
The next element to watch is Tropical Storm Kyle well east of The Bahamas
and moving northward. It is still forecasted to strengthen into a hurricane and
may pass close to eastern New England sometime Sunday mooring. We will be well
west of the track of the storm so it's affects to our local weather will
minimal except to keep the channel of tropical air coming northward through Saturday
night as well as produce swells and rough surf along the coast.
By Sunday, Kyle will be headed towards the Canadian Maritimes. There is
still a trough in the upper atmosphere and a weak cold front that will be
passing through the area from the west during the day. Thus, clouds should give
way to some sun during Sunday and there will be the threat of some showers but
Sunday is not looking to be a washout. High temperatures should rise into the
mid and upper 70s.
Monday is looking mainly sunny and mild with high temperatures in the mid
and upper 70s.
A cold front will approach for late Tuesday leading to a combination of sun
and clouds along with the threat of some showers by evening. It will remain
mild with high temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
Cooler weather arrives for Wednesday with clouds and limited sun along with
the threat of some showers. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s.

Weather
High pressure which provided us with some outstanding weather the last few
days is now moving further out over the Atlantic Ocean. Clouds are now in place
as a storm system to our south is feeding moisture up the eastern seaboard. Rain
will spread from south to north across the area later this evening and given
the tropical connection to the origin of this rain, the rain may become locally
heavy after midnight.
The pressure gradient between these two systems has been increasing during the
day resulting in a strong and gusty wind from the northeast. This gradient will
continue to tighten tonight so expect a wind swept rain to occur. A Wind Advisory
remains in effect overnight along the Jersey Shore. This strong and persistent
east to northeast wind will also result in the piling up of water along the
coast.
A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for this evening high tide cycle. As
much as a 3 foot departure from average may occur along with high surf leading
to beach erosion. Temperatures overnight will not move all that much with a low
temperature of 58 degrees for Midtown and 55-60 degrees across the suburbs.
The rain and wind will continue into Friday although the highest wind gusts
will likely occur during the morning hours. Rain may still be heavy at times
due to the tropical connection that has been set up almost like a conveyor belt
of tropical humidity. Rainfall totals may approach the 2 to 3 inch mark by
later Friday. Since it has been dry around here recently, this should not lead
to any significant river flooding however roadways may see localized flooding. The
wind will continue gusty in the afternoon out of the northeast which will keep
temperatures only in the low to mid 60s. Periods of rain will continue Friday night
as the low temperature heads down to 60 degrees and 55-60 degrees across the
suburbs.
Another storm system is likely to affect the area on Saturday. This system
is currently located down by the Turks and Caicos and is likely to move
northward tomorrow into Saturday, passing over eastern New England by Saturday
night. Uncertainty remains as to whether this will turn into a Tropical
Depression or Tropical Storm but the potential does still exist for it to do
so. None the less, more tropical moisture will get wrapped around that system
as it heads northward leading to periods of rain for Saturday with breezy
conditions. High temperatures will climb into the upper 60s.
By Sunday this storm will be up in the Canadian Maritimes but yet another
weather system has to clear the area. This is a cold front that will be moving
in from the west. It will not have much upper level energy or moisture so
clouds should give way to some sun during Sunday and there will be just a risk
of a shower at some point during the day. With the additional sunshine and more
of a land breeze, high temperatures should rise into the mid and upper 70s.
Monday is looking mainly sunny and mild with high temperatures in the mid
and upper 70s.
A weak weather system will approach for Tuesday leading to a combination of
sun and clouds along with the risk of a few showers. It will remain mild with
high temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
It appears that much cooler weather may arrive here later next week.

Weather
High pressure over northern New England will keep our sky mainly clear
overnight, which will allow temperatures to cool down into the mid and
upper 40s for most of the cooler suburbs to a low temperature of 56
degrees for Midtown.
A storm system developing off the coast of
the Carolinas will be the next weather system to influence our weather.
This storm system may turn into a tropical storm before it moves inland
across the Carolinas later Thursday. Even though it will be well
south of the area, tropical moisture will be carried up the eastern
seaboard ahead of the storm.
Our airflow will be persistent for
Thursday and Friday coming from an easterly direction and increasing in
intensity Thursday into Thursday night. Even though there may be a bit
of sun to start Thursday, this continuous easterly airflow will
ultimately bring clouds and then rain to the area during Thursday
afternoon. Because of the tropical connection to this swath of rain, we
may see the rain become heavy at times Thursday night into Friday.
Wind speeds will be increasing to between 15 and 30 miles per hours,
especially along the coast during Thursday and gust even higher
Thursday night into Friday.
The prolonged easterly fetch may lead to
coastal flooding at the time of high tide along with high surf which
may result in beach erosion. A High Surf Advisory has been issued for
the south shore of Long Island and the New Jersey coast with a Wind
Advisory also in effect along the Jersey Shore. High temperatures will
be cool and not likely to get out of the mid and upper 60s both
Thursday and Friday as the low temperature Thursday night remains in
the upper 50s to around 60 degrees for most places.
This system
may at some point merge with another storm system that has been
hovering near Puerto Rico over the last few days. This could prolong
the rain through much of Saturday as well as maintain rather breezy
conditions and cool temperatures. High temperatures will once again not
likely to rise above the mid to upper 60s.
By Sunday these
systems will be up in the Canadian maritimes but yet another weather
system has to clear the area. This is a cold front that will be moving
in from the west. It will not have much upper level energy or moisture
so clouds should give way to some sun during Sunday and there will be
just a risk of a shower at some point during the day. With the
additional sunshine and more of a land breeze, high temperatures should
rise into the upper 70s.
Monday is looking mainly sunny and mild with high temperatures in the mid and upper 70s.

High pressure over northern New England is still controlling our
weather for tonight into tomorrow. Expect a clear sky overnight with a
light northeast wind which will result in cool temperatures. The low
temperature for Midtown will be 52 degrees with 40-50 degrees across
the cooler suburbs.
Wednesday will feature another sunny day along with mild
temperatures. High temperatures should reach into the low 70s for much
of the area. The breeze may get a bit gusty during the afternoon along
the coast which will keep temperatures there in the upper 60s. Some
clouds will arrive during Wednesday night as the low temperature heads
down to 56 degrees for Midtown and 43-50 across the suburbs.
We'll be watching a developing storm system to our south for
Thursday into Saturday. This system has the potential to turn into a
tropical depression or even a tropical storm as it takes a path up the
east coast during that time period. Moisture will be streaming ahead of
that system on Thursday so after seeing just a bit of sun during the
morning, the sky will turn completely cloudy and rain is likely to
develop during the afternoon. The breeze will be gusty out of the east keeping temperatures in the mid to upper 60s for high temperatures.
This system may take until later Saturday to pass by to our east.
This will keep Friday and Saturday rather unsettled with lots of clouds
along with the threat of more rain which could be heavy at times due to
the tropical nature of the air mass. The wind will continue to be a
factor as it will be strong and gusty out of the east. This may lead to
the threat of some coastal flooding at the time of high tide along with
beach erosion. High temperatures will range from the upper 60s on
Friday to the low 70s on Saturday.
This system should pull away by Sunday so improvement in our weather
should occur by then. With a return of some sunshine, high temperatures
will rise into the upper 70s.

Welcome to autumn! Autumn officially arrives this morning at 11:44 A.M.
The sun travels north and south over the equator throughout the year.
It reaches its northern most point at the summer solstice (first day of
summer) of 23.5 degrees north latitude. On the winter solstice (first
day of winter) the sun has traveled to its southern most location of
23.5 degrees south latitude.
There are two times of the year that the sun is directly over the
equator. These are the vernal equinox (first day of spring) and the
autumnal equinox (first day of autumn). Today marks the point where the
sun is directly over the equator on its southward journey. You'll
really notice this as we move forward from here as the angle of the sun
will be increasing lower over the horizon as well as with a more rapid
decrease to the amount of daylight.
Back to our weather. A northeast airflow has brought in low level
moisture during this afternoon which has resulted in lots of clouds.
These clouds will remain over much of the area overnight as the low
temperature heads down to 58 degrees for Midtown and 48-55 degrees
across the suburbs.
Drier air will filter into the area on Tuesday which will bring
sunshine along with a few clouds at times. A northeast wind will keep
temperatures rather seasonal as high temperatures rise into the upper
60s and low 70s. Clear and cool weather moves in for Tuesday night as
the low temperature drops to 56 degrees in Midtown and 44-54 degrees
across the suburbs.
High pressure will continue to ridge into our area from the Canadian
Maritimes on Wednesday allowing for a sunny day as high temperatures
hover close to 70 degrees. We'll be watching for a developing storm
system to our south on Wednesday which may help to increase the wind
around the area. It may turn out to be a bit breezy on Wednesday which
will also keep a cooler feeling to the air.
This developing storm system has the potential to turn into a
tropical system. Computer forecast models have shown different
solutions for this system as to its development and ultimate track. It
does appear that moisture ahead of the system may begin to push into
the area as early as Thursday. We me see some sun Thursday morning
which will lead to a thickening clouds along with the threat of some
rain by later in the day. With a breezy onshore flow, high temperatures
are not likely to climb out of the upper 60s.
This system may take until later Saturday to pass by to our east.
This will keep Friday and Saturday rather unsettle with lots of clouds
along with the threat of rain along with a gusty wind. High
temperatures those days will be in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.
This system should pull away by later Sunday to hopefully improve the weather for the latter part of the weekend.

More great weather is on the way as we head into this weekend. High pressure
over northern New England will be stretching out from the Canadian Maritimes
back across our area and towards the Tennessee Valley. This will result in cool
conditions once again tonight with some patchy clouds. Expect the low
temperature to drop to 53 degrees in Midtown and 40-50 degrees across the
suburbs.
Saturday and Sunday are looking to be beautiful days with a sunny sky along
with a warm up in temperatures. Highs on Saturday will reach into the low 70s
and then rise to around 80 degrees for Sunday. Saturday night will be clear and
not quite as cool as the low temperature heads down to 56 degrees for Midtown
and 45-55 across the suburbs.
A cold front will pass across the area Sunday night which will bring a
reinforcement of the nice weather for Monday through Wednesday. Expect lots of
sunshine each day with high temperatures of 72 degrees on Monday, 70 degrees on
Tuesday, and back to 72 degrees on Wednesday.
Also keep in mind that autumn will officially arrive Monday morning at 11:44
A.M.
Enjoy!

Our weather pattern will not be changing as we head toward the weekend
so some more great weather is on the way. High pressure will be
building in overnight into Friday so look for a clear sky Thursday
night with less wind after midnight as the low temperature heads down
to 53 degrees for Midtown and 40-50 degrees across the suburbs.
This
high pressure ridge will stretch out across the area from Friday right
through the weekend. Friday will be the coolest day but with a sunny
and bright blue sky. High temperatures will make it into the mid to
upper 60s. Clear and cool conditions continue for Friday night with a
low temperature of 52 degrees for Midtown and 40-50 across the suburbs.
Saturday and Sunday are looking to be beautiful days with a
sunny sky along with a slow warm up in temperatures. Highs on Saturday
will reach into the low 70s and then rise into the upper 70s for Sunday.
Another
reinforcement of the nice weather arrives for Monday and Tuesday.
Expect lots of sunshine each day with high temperatures in the low 70s.

More excellent September weather is on the way. A cold front will pass
across the area by early Thursday morning. This front has no moisture
and very little upper atmospheric support to work with so we'll just
see a few clouds with the frontal passage. The low temperature for
Midtown will be close to 60 degrees with 48-58 degrees across the
suburbs.
With the passage of the cold front, we'll be locked
into a great weather pattern for the foreseeable future. Sunshine will
dominate on Thursday along with just a few puffy fair weather clouds as
high temperatures rise into the mid 70s. As high pressure builds down
from eastern Canada Thursday night into Friday, we'll tap the coolest
air in the forecast period. Under a clear sky Thursday night, the low
temperature will drop to 53 degrees for Midtown and 38-48 degrees
across the suburbs.
Friday and Saturday will be absolutely
beautiful days with sunshine each day. Friday will see high
temperatures only in the mid and upper 60s but temperatures will warm
into the low 70s by Saturday.
Expect Sunday and Monday to be
just as nice with even milder weather. With sunshine and a few clouds
