What impact has the Rev. Jeremiah Wright had on Barack Obama's presidential campaign?

Has the pastor helped or hurt the senator from Illinois?

It doesn't matter what Reverend Wright says. He's not running for anything. It's how Barack Obama handles the heat. If he wants to be president, situations gets harder.

Extremely negative.
Obama after 20 years knew where Wright was coming from and elected to stay the course with him. Now everyone knows where Wright is coming from and bailing out on Obama.

If you have already made up your mind to vote for Obama, Reverend Wright should not be enough to change it but if you are considering changing your vote you must first ask why has no other candidates minister been put in the spot light and why has no other candidate been questioned about his ministers beliefs.

Why is it that no other candidate is being run through the mill about their ministers's political views? This question must be asked before one allows the media to change your mind about giving Obama your vote.

Voters should be intelligent enough to distinguish Barack Obama from Reverend Wright. You cannot hold one person responsible for another person's opinions based on the fact that they have associated with one another in the past. They are not the same person, nor do they share identical opinions.

There is no question that Reverend Wright hurts Obama every time he speaks out. I don't begrudge him his opinion, but the more he talks, the less likely Obama will be elected as president. If he gets the Democratic nomination, you can be sure that the Republicans will come out firing away in a much stronger way than anybody has yet. If Reverend Wright is trying to make sure that Obama is not elected, he is doing a great job. I almost wonder how much the Republicans are paying him.

Rev. Wright is turning out to be Sen. Obama's worst nightmare. He is single-handedly driving the senator's campaign into the ground.

Obama is a liar. There is NO WAY that he has been going to this Pastor's church and not heard any of his ridiculous rhetoric or insane beliefs. He will only denounce him now since the guy won't shut up and the media is on him.

Where has freedom of speech went in this U.S.A? Reverend Wright has his mouth to say what he sees fit...Mr. Obama should put his focus more on trying to win the White House...(which Hilary will win)..but that should be his focus not the Reverend...

It has hurt Obama because the big question is, how could you go to his church for 20 years and not know, hear or been told of "your" pastor's views. And his wife made a statement re: she was not happy with this country until her husband entered the presidential race. Makes one stop and think...was she expressing views she had been taught in church?

Rev Wright isn't preaching anything new that he hasn't said in the past. For Obama to have been going to him for over 20 years shows how much of a homophobe and racist that they BOTH are.

No politician would ever mention the issues contained in Rev. Wright's comments, but Obama should not have to defend himself. This "politically correct" attitude is making a farce out of America inside and out.

I find it very hard to believe that this the first time Mr Obama has listen to the views of Rev. Wright. If he did not support the views of Rev Wright he should have denounced him years ago. Appears he is doing now so his poll numbers will go up.

Obama's presidential campaign should not be affected by Rev Wright tirade. Reject, Renounce, Denounce...it does not matter; it is nothing more than an attempt to thwart his efforts for CHANGE. I am more concerned with Clinton's complete distortion of the truth surrounding events in Bosnia and the fact that this situation is not under a microscope. Do you want a have a Commander in Chief that lies every time at 3:00 AM when that phone rings……

Of course it has hurt his campaign. Obama has known Rev. Wright for 20 years, how could he have not known his views? It has definitely put a negative light on him.

THE MORE OBAMA DENOUNCES THE PASTOR, THE MORE OF A HYPOCRIT HE IS, AND THE MORE IT HURTS HIS CAMPAIGN. THE REVEREND IS JUST BEING THE SAME PERSON HE'S ALWAYS BEEN, AND IF OBAMA WASN'T RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT, HE'D BE RIGHT THERE SUPPORTING WRIGHT'S VIEWS JUST LIKE HE DID WHEN HE WORSHIPPED AT HIS CHURCH FOR SO MANY YEARS.

this is why we dont mix church and state because people dont know how to act. it "was" separate for a reason just like this.
