     Every year we all look forward to the Christmas trees at Rockefeller Center and RexCorp Citibank Plaza in Uniondale.  It kicks off the holiday season.  But hold on….there’s more. 

   The most fabulous trees of all are “DEE’S TREES”!!  What are “DEE’S TREES”??  They are Christmas trees from “DEE’S NURSERY” of Oceanside, Long Island.  What makes them so special??   Let me tell you. 

   This will be the fourth year that Dee’s Nursery will be sending more than 500 Christmas trees to our troops in Iraq!  Tell me that isn’t the true spirit of CHRISTMAS!  But that isn’t all.

   They are not alone in this endeavor.  Many local citizens and businesses donate a lot of money to get this thing rolling, as well as Dee’s many suppliers.  Their combined efforts make it possible to also send lights and decorations for the trees.  They also supply Weber grills and food, like turkeys, roasts and all the fixings.

   Those are our kids over there protecting us, and we must never forget that.  Dee’s, with the help of long time customer, Jim Adelis, who was a great help in making this happen, don’t forget.  His son was serving in Iraq the first year they thought of doing this.  With Jim’s help they were able to put it all together.  He was the key person in making all the arrangements with getting DHL and the Police Departments involved.    They ALL have stepped up to the plate figuring that if the troops can’t come home for the holidays, they’d bring the holidays to them!!  DHL donates the freight and The New York City and Nassau County Police Departments all chip in to help.  The Port Authority Police provide an escort for the convoy from Dee’s in Oceanside to JFK.  There, the trees are loaded on to transport planes and flown to Iraq.

   The entire family at Dee’s works hard 12 months out of the year and yet they found the time to make this all happen.  My family and I are PROUD to call them our friends and neighbors.

   YES VIRGINIA, THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS…and his spirit is alive and well at “DEE’S NURSERY”!!!!

Hey Big Bob! That's a great effort and one that I am sure is greatly appreciated by the troops. It's hard being stationed half way around the world during the holidays and it's always nice to have a little piece of home come to you. Long live Dee's Trees!

This is great!! We must never forget our troops who are giving up so much to make sure that we are free...I hope they come home soon to be with there families...And for Dee's Nursery, GOD BLESS YOU!! :)

Thank you Christina. Aren't they great? Makes ya teary eyed doesn't it?? I think Fox5 might've covered it last year, but it wouldn't hurt to pass it on to them. It's definately worth covering again. I think Dec.1st, is the day they load and do the convoy.

Its great they want to give our troops xmas trees.But whats really sad is if our brave men and women get injured they have to give back thier bonuses?? What the hell is wrong with this goverment??These kids are get killed over there and thier own goverment is giving them the big F**k off. Support our troops and screw the goverment.

I totally agree with you, but never the less these kids are still over there and we have to let them know they're APPRECIATED AND NOT FORGOTTEN! They must know that WE CARE! I wanted them home YESTERDAY, but that just ain't gonna happen. So in the mean while so while DEE'S is doing their part, maybe we can do ours by sending cards and letters just to let them know that they're not alone!!
More important then anything.."PRAY FOR THEIR SAFE RETURN!!
