I believe in our giving we all could be more improved givers, more generous with our talent, treasure, and time for others and other's  benefit, and the church of Jesus Christ. Are you ministering to God first? Are you familiar with Abraham's giving 10% to Melchizedek who was a type or foreshadowing of Christ Jesus, a priest with no beginning or ending the Bible says in Genesis? Abram paid tithes this way. Melchizedek means king of Righteousness and/or king of Peace (Salem). He had no beginning and no ending, an epiphany in the Old Testament of Jesus Christ in fact He is Hebrews 7:1-ff. Abraham the receiver of the promises worshipped and paid tithes to Melchizadek who blesses him, as scripture says, "the lesser is blessed by the greater."

We hear in the Book of Malachi, God says, "you have robbed me," and we said, "where Lord?" "in tithes and offerings God says."  There is a qualifier which means the act of robbing God was wrong but then the promise comes for restoration as promises do come with conditions visa vie our choices to be obedient.

"God takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants," it says in Psalms if we put God first as Lord which means Master-King; Ruler, Master, and Reigner over all our decisions and thereby give 10% to our local church in obedience. Delight in Him and He shall give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4; God's desire is for you Hebrews 6:16-18.  Jesus is God if you follow the Biblical revelation and the many internal proofs of it within the Bible itself. You can rest assured its throughout the Word of God.

This is God's spiritual principle in Malachi "Prove me now herewith says the Lord, if I will not open to you the windows of heaven and give you a blessing you cannot contain to overtake you and bless you." He only asks us to trust and obey and make Him Lord and obey Him (and there is where we need to do diligence.) Like Abraham found, God becomes provision to us like Gen. 22 Jehovah-Jireh.

I practice this in my life by principle by asking God squarely for what I want and need and live with the consequences of TRUSTING GOD with the results. (In whatever form Jehovah-Jireh might answer) I give and sow my tithes and offerings into His Kingdom (at His storehouse) and work (at my church, His Vineyard) and to the poor as unto God. I talk to God throughout the day as to what His will is and then do it. He knows my needs. Dialogue with God is important as intelligently dilligently I seek Him and He honors us as we honor His Presence. He is worthy of all Power and all Praise. Specific answers come.

As we give generously and sow bountifully giving portions to seven or eight and in direct proportion to that generous feeling usefully we reap bountifully as we follow through and give. And it is according as we're able and not according to what we don't have! But none of this is possible "in the Power of the Holy Spirit" unless one becomes born again new birth, born from above! We don't seek rewards but we gratefully serve however for the prvilege of dedication to Him. By relationship we enjoy God forever and this is the natural result See John 3, I Corinthians 15:-1-7; We consider Him who gave resistance to sin to the point of shedding blood and so faint not at well doing and so reap a harvest of bountiful blessings & fruit in accord with repentance Galations 6:9;5:22,23.

Can you imagine if everyone did something even just once a week to help another?

A minister's wife asked me if I tithed 10% of my gross earnings. I said, "No, I tithe financially as much as I can but I cannot tithe what is not mine, already promised to the oil, gas, electric companies - it is no longer mine to give to another. BUT, I tithe my knowledge, abilities, or just a helping hand every day."

She said that it had to be 10% of my income. My response was money was not yet invented at the time the Bible was written.

I had the problem of receiving until my minister said that refusing help from another not allowing them the joy of giving.

Giving with strings attached, I wonder about that. I have noticed that more checks are in the basket on Sundays. I guess that means the giving is to be used as a tax deduction. Wrong, no, but isn't that a string attached?

Expecting something in return, to me, is not really giving, but bargaining.

Dav, great blog! I bless you for I know God already has.

thank you. God can only bless us as we totally surrender alligience to Him by obeying or doing what God in His Word tells us. The will of God is not always happiness but joy along the way.

We think of giving with expecting something when we think outside the box of obediance to His will. God has a usual way of working and we call this His way or better, His principle. When we honor by obedience to principle and specific do it we are rewarded "in the relationship" and that is first spiritually and if God wills, materially.

It is not an option not to be givers nor obeyers but focus and concentration when life becomes bitter and we don't see the answers come (the way we want them,) becomes necessary.

God has you in mind all the time because He loves you and all the time He's trying to get you in conformity with the image of His Son, Christ. So God may allow troubles and afflictions if it means a greater vessel fit for His use and a greater joy in heaven for you by deepening your character through suffering.

Christ is going to take a stand for you but down on this earth you will be persecuted for doing right things. Jesus says we can make it because He overcame this world. He will live through you. Just be sure you have identified with the Risen Christ in relationship daily, obeying, giving, trusting. By grace you are saved, not works however. Phil 3:10;I Peter 4:13,14; Col. 1:24; 2 Cor 9, 10.

Let me introduce myself. I'm Dave C. from Franklin Square, N.Y. I'm a Blood-washed born again Child of God, believe in the Gift of Righteousness found in God's Son, take a stand for a new standard, Christ's righteousness & make no apologies for it. I attend church Services at an Assemblies Of God church: Bethel Assembly Of God Church from Franklin Square. I've accepted Christ as my personal Savior and Lord. I was four. Being all God wants me to be is a part of my all-calling I'm pursuing in God to be a minister and to minister to God first. As a minister of reconciliation as a layman I'm loving being single and agapetotes freed up love from God to 'laleo' (Greek word for to gossip or chirp) the Gospel to my family and church family. I Algebra tutor math to a twelve year old child next door to me. As well I'm a Gideon who distributes Bibles to many needy locations and peoples, am a substitute High School Teacher, and have a Bachelor of Science's in Chemistry. God's unconditional love is totally awesome. I rejoice evermore. I witness with all-joy to My Jesus My comfort, and shelter for he has taken my sins away! W/o Him we can do nothing. With Christ we can reign in God and in life to all possibilities from God's radical grace in Him Romans 5:17;8:1,28,37;12:1,2. What the Lord has done for me He can do for you. He has made something... beautiful... out of my life! Long live King Jesus! You are mercy to me! Godliness with contentment is great gain. Riches will fade away. My utmost for His highest. El Elyon is "God Most High," His title in the Old Testament. God gives us gold. silver, and precious stone! What must I do to be saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Then follow Christ.
