This is in response to Mayor Bloomberg's property tax proposal.Instead of raising our property taxes, why not take it out of the taxes they used to buildour new Yankee Stadium?  They weren't suppose to use our tax dollars to build this stadium!!But they did!!!But next season when you want to take your family to a ball game, guarantee you won't be able to afford it. Why not take the money out of the overpaid losing Yankees, or crooked politicians to pay for our new stadium, that we never really needed???
Are we New Yorkers suppose to just keep taking this?  NYC is not the same as it use to be.There use to be a diversity of residents, but now NYC only caters to the rich!!
Very concerned New Yorker

If you aren't already insulted enough by this, go to the nyc.gov page and read about how vital the Yankees are to the Bronx. Yeah, sure, they pay my rent and educate my children and get me to work every morning. They do that for everybody else too, right? It's disgustingly obvious how the city leaders are trying to justify using public funds by worshiping at Steinbrenner's altar. As for affording a seat at the new stadium, not very likely for many, especially in these troubled financial times. It's pretty funny how the city can help the Yankees, but they can't make the MTA fix escalators or keep their stations clean. Ridiculous!

I couldn't agree with you more. They're raising propety taxes, and everything else, so they could continue putting it in their pockets. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer, so the saying goes.
Steinbrenner is a billionaire who could have footed the bill, no need to take it from our taxes. Are you kidding, seats at the Yankee Stadium will cost $200.- and box seats $2,000. It was on tonights news.

Hey you Guys and Gals in the BIG APPLE, the same thing happened in Chicago. The Mayor built a new Football Stsadium for the Chicago Bears and when everything was done the BILL was $ 600,000,000. Thats right, six hundred million dollars. That's all a lot of money to plat only eight games a year. I would like to know who gave the Mayor the right to use our TAX DOLLARS for a private owned organization. Like they always say " MONEY GOES TO MONEY " So hold on to your wallets. Oh yeah, right now the city is in the red for over $400,000,000. Gee I wonder why ???.

That's because bloomberg comes from money, he is a crude buisnessman who only cares about himself and money. He cares for nothing of the common day workers. Hey, it's not coming out of his wallet, what does he care. The rich get richer, and the poor, we just stay poor, no matter how hard you work and try. The big men always find away to knock you down.

I hope Bloomberg does not get the bill passed for becoming the mayor for another 4 years. If he does, I hope that New Yorkers will not vote for this man.
He wants to raise our property taxes I think they said another 7%, we are already pay the highest in the country, can he really do this???

Like I said before BLOOMBERG, why not take our taxes that built the new Yankee Stadium and put that toward property taxes. Like devildog said why should we pay for a private organization new Yankee stadium??
Shove it where the sun don't shine Bloomberg!!!!

Enough is enough already. Go after the rotten brokers who shoved mortgages at people who could not afford the house they were buying. Go after them and take their money - some of these brokers - or thieves - raked in $15K and more per deal!!!! Get them to pay back the money. I work hard for my measley dollars and I am so sick of all the BS that gets passed on to the rest of us while the rich get richer. Start charging the rich to live in New York or give it back to the people. This whole situation is sickening. The workers who get p*** on are the ones making money for the rich get the rug pulled out from under them constantly. Enough - get the money from George for the property tax increases. With all the foreclosures going on and people abandoning their property the only one paying taxes are the ones struggling now, how much more can be taken from us.....enough. Besides the money from Yankee Stadium what the hell ever happened to the lottery money that was to pay for the schools, bridges, etc. You do not hear about this anymore - I WONDER WHO THE HELL LINED THEIR POCKETS!!!!

Now the DICTATOR Mr. Tax-Berg wants an other term. Take a look at wikipedia for the word DICTATOR..............Part of it is
"In modern usage, the term "dictator" is generally used to describe a leader who holds and/or abuses an extraordinary amount of personal power, especially the power to make laws without effective restraint by a legislative assembly. Dictatorships are often characterized by some of the following traits: suspension of elections and of civil liberties; proclamation of a state of emergency; rule by decree; repression of political opponents without abiding by rule of law procedures; these include single-party state, and cult of personality.[citation needed]

Why was the Mayor heading down to the pockets of the NY City residents to raise Property Taxes ( Not on personal income) when the PEOPLE of NY City lost jobs on wall street and almost nobody ( except city employees) got a raise in their income for the last 2 years ?

The reason why he should go and don't change the term limits. We will do just find with another person in the Mayor's office. Wiener is a great choice.

Just so you know.....

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the Independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month --And then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put Away" -- you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the Independent "Trust Fund" and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?
