Anyone else think the mayors ideas on congestion pricing are yet another fancy way for the city to say : "give me more money for nothing" first off most people go to the city because they have to work, school, ect.. charging them for it in no way will reduce the influx of traffic to the city nor reduce the amount of pollution given out by cars .
1. The areas parking and early morning traffic out side of the zone will be overcrowed due to people trying to avoid paying ( what areas are these?and who is affected?)
2. When in the history of tolls, has their addition sped up traffic? last i checked you have to stop ( or slow to a crawl ez pass) to pay, seems kinda stupid to think otherwise.
3. Anyone happen to know how much more car exaust is spewed out of 6 millon cars idleing at toll plazas ( ever look at GWBs toll plaza walls or any toll plaza walls!).
4. Why arent the citys busses on a clean fuel source? They seem to be the biggest offenders ( I heard something about a budget surplus? ...MTA why i oughtta!).
Look.... mass transit is still a very economical and efficent means of transportation and will allway be utilized its cheap and beats looking for parking in nyc, but this proposal for having to pay to drive into nyc is nuts. just a bad idea it makes big promises before any real "non biased or agenda driven" studies or research has been made. because once something like this is in place its never going to go away .NYC just gets greedier, once the city has a taste of blood ...er i mean profits..,generated from these tolls that will most definitely insure their place among nyc's most annoying aspects of "getting around".
