I wouldn't call him the greatest player ever. You have to finish games, play great D and make the other players around you better. Jason Kidd is one the greatest...he should've stayed his butt on the east! :(

Vince Carter is obviously one of the most athletic and hardest working players in the NBA and he has a great work ethic and a great court vision. But, I would not put him in the same league with players like Magic Johnson, Larry Byrd or Michael Jordan because he lacks their leadership ability on and off the court. The NBA today just makes me sad. I have seen more layups in this past season than in the all of the previous decades combined. To his credit, Vince Carter has greatly improved his defensive skills which I admire him for more that I admire his dunks. Without hard, solid, consistent defensive play, NBA basketball is pointless. Watching great athletes trade layups ,alleyoops, dunks and perimeter shots while the opposing team stands around makes me want to slam dunk my HD TV set through the window. It is no coincidence that the teams in the playoffs, The Spurs and the Celtics, for example, play hard defense. My favorite player now would be Kevin Garnett as he really has the best all around game. I just love watching him grab rebounds, set picks and stop plays. I wish he played for the Knicks!
