We dodged the heavy, drenching thunderstorms Thursday, but we didn't escape the humidity. There will not be much relief Thursday night into Friday, as the overnight lows will be in the upper 60s and low 70s. Weak high pressure is expected to move into the region Friday and that will set up hot, hazy and humid conditions. Temperatures on Friday will be in the upper 80s and low 90s across the region. Dew point temperatures will be in the 60s and that will make it feel even more uncomfortable by the afternoon.

Get ready for an unsettled weather pattern as we head into the weekend. An area of low pressure is expected to move out of the Great Lakes region and press into the Tri-State by Saturday afternoon. With the trough of low pressure overhead and an increase in humidity, there will be a few thunderstorms that pop up Saturday afternoon. Saturday night, the storm system is going to stall near the region.

As a result, you're going to find a prolonged period of showers and storms. In fact, I think the showers and thunderstorms will be even more widespread Sunday. Don't pack away the umbrellas, yet. The shower and thunderstorm threat will remain for the beginning of next week. By Wednesday, high pressure will settle back into the region.
