ON BEING A BRAINY BLONDE BUT KNOWING WHEN TO DUCK:

I have never considered myself to be a "religious" individual...leaning more towards the spiritual.
But I have taken notice of the pattern of "natural" disasters of late, that seem to be increasing by the day. From the tsunamis in Indonesia-to Hurricane Katrina-the catastrophic recent destruction of Myranmar and now the massive 7.9 earthquake in China that has killed untold thousands--
We must start to wonder about the "spiritual" aspect of these events and to ask ourselves if we have created such an atmosphere of collective negative energy, ugliness and fear because of small, petty, inconsequential trivialities--that if, whatever "higher power"exists, has gotten fed up with the lot of us and decided to make us all understand that it is NOT Osama Bin Laden, George Bush, or Ahmandinejad that we should fear--it is NOT they who hold the world or our lives in their grasp--but that IT has now made us all aware that it can wipe us ALL out in ONE SHOT!--Christians, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish--White, African-American, Asian et al- All end up suffering and dying on an equal level.
Indonesia--with the largest Muslim population in the world- New Orleans--city of sinful delights, the Chinese who have oppressed millions and the people of Tibet....The Junta in Myranmar...who, like the Chinese have taken the democratic and humanitarian rights of their people....................
If after 9/11, the world STILL does NOT understand that we ALL have the right to exist on this planet--regardless of race, religion or color--financial standing or education-Then we have only to wait---for our petty, trivial and shallow souls will answer to an entity of nature that will finally make us aware of how insignificant we ALL truly are.

Thank you Vittorio!
I write only what common sense dictates and what I feel as a human being.

I myself am not always an angel, but it is quite hard to live in a world that goes against the grain of one's true soul everyday.
I don't pretend to always practice what I preach--and am more angry with myself than anyone else when I'm not.

I think that the big boss upstairs has truly gotten fed up with the lot of us and has DEFINITELY showed all of us who we should really fear and respect( besides each other!)...

Peace and good will to you!

Vertigoblond - I like your post, and yes I belive we all need to rethink our priorities. It is tooooo tooooo much an instant and me, me, me, world. We have to change our attitudes. Each one of us. Remember, we can be wiped out in a flash. Look at the flooding going on right now - we will all pay for this one way or another. I have said it before and I will keep repeating it, it should be WE not ME. Thanks for the insight.

Times are not as disastrous as the 1500's - famine when the Earth cooled down. So far not as bad as Pompeii or whatever happened to the dinosaurs.... It could be worse. I am not ready to build an ark.

I just give thanks for all the good. I give thanks for the hard times and rejoice when I have learned the lessons of those times and even thank God I had them for I have learned and grown. I also know I will have lessons to learn my entire life and I also know that all I have to do is ask for guidance. Let go and let God. God does help them that help themselves.

I have been fortunate enough to have grown up with a broad spectrum of cultures and theologies-(my birth father a Cathlolic, my first step-father an Israeli Jew and my second step-father an Egyptian Muslim), which I believe gave me the opportunity at a very young age to have a deep understanding of what fuels the deep rooted passions of conflicting ideologies, and at once, realizing that ALL religions and theologies are based on one central theme in variation. Blood IS one color---no matter the color of the skin, the religious belief, nor the country of origin. We ALL bleed. But people are more concerned with the color of money, who has the better car, clothes, jewelry, home and hold no value on what is TRULY valuable. PEACE, LOVE and the FREEDOMS that many of us take for granted. On 9/11, all of the victims, no matter what their religion, financial status or culture--ALL died in a horrific manner. From the busboys at Windows on the World, to the millionaire Kantor Fitzgerald brokers, to the poor delivery guy from the deli delivering breakfast, the Bravest, the Finest, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Agnostic, Atheist, Black, White, Yellow, mixed----ALL perished. Does anyone think it mattered about their status in any manner? Have people become soooo afraid and are they in sooo much denial about the effect that 9/11 truly had on their psyches that they forget that we were ALL attacked on that day and that ALL of our lives and way of life would forever be changed. Those who choose to use their democratic right to protest against our involvement in Iraq and who are making a mockery of our Military and their daily sacrifice for ALL of us---so that we may go to Starbucks, to the Mall, to a baseball game, to a movie, to be with your lover, your wife, your husband, your children, your family, to sleep a little more soundly at night-are an insult to their sacrifice---ALL because THEY can not do all of those things that we take for granted every day because they are sacrificing their lives for us and those daily pleasures to contain the cancer of terror that threatens to take those pleasures and freedoms from us. I pray that it will not be too late before all of us wake up and realize that this is NOT the sixties and that we are NOT dealing with the Vietnamese who designs on the world at large were less grandiose than those of the Fundamentalist Terrorists--who-unlike Hilter, who wanted to irradicate just the Jewish people--want to see the end of Western Civilization as we know it. The war in Iraq is about OIL some say? Well I would like to hear this ignorance being spewed when Fundamentalist Terrorists take control of these OIL reserves and these FEAR FACTOR cowards won't be able to function because of it. When you now look up LIBERAL in the dictionary it should say "see; TRAITOR
