It seems like there's a pattern when it comes to the TSA calling the police. They wait and make sure that they have a crime or an incident to report.
The question is… Are all of the delays justified?
There are two schools of thought:
The TSA should call the cops immediately once there is suspicion of a crime or incident.
The TSA gets so many false alarms that if they called the cops upon suspicion of something they'd be calling the cops all day long.
Of course there's the bigger question of why aren't all of the security gates constantly manned by at least one armed cop?
Right now the rules say the cops have to be within 5 minutes of response time. That's plenty of time for an armed terrorist to walk through any gate with a machine gun and take out a plane when it's still on the ground.
Love to hear your thoughts!
TSA doesn't completely screen flight personnel, they only do a light check. I was flying out of Laguardia and I noticed the flight crew going through and NOT removing their shoes. I pointed this oversight out to the TSA and he actually "cursed" at me for doing so. I was shocked. He said and I quote "Don't tell me how to do my ****ing job, I don't come to your job and tell you how to do it." I was with my fiance "Linda" who can verify this story. In this day and age, even with the workers at JFK who were plotting to blow the place up, why are they not checking their own? Being a veteran, this is a MAJOR flaw in the system. Do an undercover story on this gap in their security...you won't believe it!
