Well, here we go again. Not only was a bogus ticket issued, but the cops seemed to use an old-school technique that is to throw the book at someone if the person challenges what the cop is trying to do.
You could sympathize with the cops if the person was being abusive or a real jerk. This guy -- Robert Taylor -- seems to be a decent person.
As far as taking pictures go, we run into this problem constantly. Ever since 9/11, people in the position of authority think they can stop anyone from taking pictures anywhere.
Please see the official POLICE MEMO that goes into detail about why people who are taking pictures generally are not terrorists.
Robert Taylor might have SEEMED like a decent person on camera with you, but come on, were you there during the incident? And sure, maybe the cops made a mistake, but they didn't cost the city $30k. Idiots like Taylor and other morons who create frivolous lawsuits cost the city thousands EVERY year. Why did Taylor deserve $30k?? Nothing happened to him! He got a ticket...WAHHHH Boo hoo. I love how he acts all concerned about the $30k coming from tax payers. Umm...if you feel so bad, why did you sue? You won the NYC lottery just by getting a sleazy lawyer and now you're $30k richer AND your family got to see you on TV. Stop pretending to be sympathetic. People like Robert Taylor should be featured on Shame for cheating taxpayers out of money because they don't necessarily like things that didn't impact them one bit, and wouldn't have been an issue if they just stopped being sarcastic and moved on.
